So, I've arrived in Australia for my final block of my undergraduate career! It's very exciting to know that I will be completing my student teaching somewhere completely different.
My trip over was very interesting. I have never traveled by myself, so it was a new experience completely. I managed to make all my connecting flights and even make it through security about three times. The flights were long and tiring. It's hard to sleep on a plane when the guy in front of you keeps hitting you with his seat and the woman behind you keeps coughing. I secretly hope they double screened her for H1N1.
So far everyone has been super nice. My host family is made up of a teacher at the school I'm going to be working in, Anne, her husband, John, and their daughter, Meghan. They also have a son who is 25 and has moved out. Meghan is 20, so it's nice to live with someone about my age. She's offered to show me around town and how to use the public transportation.
John took me into town today to show me around. It was very interesting to see all the stores. There is just so much to look at-so many houses and people and interesting things. I can't wait to go out and explore on my own, but I don't think I'm brave enough for that just yet.
